‘Guilt’ tells the story of when I was at school, myself and my classmates accidentally broke a teachers hip during a game of tug of war. I designed and made this book to tell the story and convey the message of the story through the design.
The guilty elements within the story build, and progress as more things seem to go wrong. I have used red chalk on the pages to represent this progression, as well as conveying a metaphorical reference to Macbeth’s ‘Blood on your hands’.
The cover of the book is bright white as a reference to the psychology that guilt is an internal state, and you cannot see the tainted inside.
As people use the book, the cover too will become tainted with the red chalk, as my guilty story becomes known
